The Perfect Storm

The 2013 ZR1 is the ultimate Corvette. The fastest, most powerful car Chevrolet has ever produced, the 2013 Corvette ZR1 is powered by the LS9 engine: a 638-horsepower supercharged V8 with titanium connecting rods and intake valves. The ZR1 boasts a test track top speed of 205 mph, and goes from 0-60 in only 3.4 seconds. Even with all that power on tap, it maintains a fuel efficiency of 21 MPG highway.

Power…check. Performance…check. Prestige? Consider this: the Corvette ZR1 was the overall winner of the 2010 Car and Driver Lightning Lap competition, where it faced off against the world’s fastest cars. Rivaling the world’s finest luxury sports vehicles on & off the track, it’s also the only truly American sports car in the competitive class.

To celebrate Corvette’s grand and storied history, the 60th Anniversary Design Package is available on all 2013 Corvette models, including the ZR1. This package features an Arctic White exterior and a Blue Diamond leather-wrapped interior with sueded-microfiber accents. An optional graphics package with full-length racing stripes in Pearl Silver Blue adds a classic track-ready look.

The stripes run the full length of the vehicle, including the interior. Even the top on convertible models continues the appearance with stitched stripes. The package in convertible models also includes gray-painted brake calipers and 60th Anniversary badging on the wheel center caps, steering wheel and seat head restraints, providing the finishing touch to this sleek and distinctive appearance.

Exterior Features

The ZR1 6.2-liter LS9 supercharger is more than a marvel of automotive engineering…it’s a thing of beauty. Appropriately, the ZR1 likes to show it off! The Carbon Fiber hood of the 2013 ZR1 features a window above the supercharger allowing for easy viewing and a striking incorporation into the exterior design. Combined with its visible Carbon Fiber elements such as the roof, roof bow, splitter and rockers, the aggressive and chiseled style of ZR1 reflects its roots in racing. The rounded fenders and low, aggressive stance are classic design cues that have provided the foundation of its look for sixty years, making the Corvette distinctive and alluring. The 2013 ZR1 takes these, and ups the ante.

Corvette owners tend to have a strong sense of individuality. Fittingly, the 2013 ZR1 can be personalized more than ever. Owners can choose from five brake caliper colors: Dark Gray Metallic, Red, Silver, Yellow or standard Blue. Headlamps are available in a choice of gray, silver or black. And a host of dealer-installed Genuine Corvette Accessories are offered to make your ZR1 distinctively yours.

Did you know?
The name "ZR1" was supposedly created in honor of Zora Arkus-Duntov, Corvette's former chief engineer. It's rumored to stand for "Zora's Racer 1", although the story remains unconfirmed.

The 2013 Chevy Corvette ZR1 is powered by a handcrafted 6.2-liter LS9 aluminum block V8 equipped with a 4-lobe Eaton Twin Vortices Series supercharger with intercooler, built by our own skilled craftsmen at the GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan. The LS9 engine employs lightweight titanium intake valves and connecting rods and contains a high-performance dry-sump oil system, which distributes pressurized oil from an external reservoir to protect vital components under high-g driving conditions. The LS9 delivers an SAE-certified 638 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 604 lb.-ft. of torque at 3800 rpm.

Michelin PS2 tires , Performance Traction Management, and Magnetic Selective Ride Control come in the available F55 package. From there you can take things even further with the Z07 Performance Package option, which adds Brembo Carbon Ceramic Brakes and Michelin PS Cup tires. Add the Carbon Fiber Package for even less weight and more speed.

Putting ZR1’s power to the pavement are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires (available with the PDE package), which combine everything Michelin has learned through its extensive Motorsports experience to achieve 1.13g skid pad and 8% more grip than standard PS2 tires. This translates to 3 seconds saved per lap at Virginia International Raceway. Imagine what it can do for you when handling matters the most!

A car capable of going as fast as the ZR1 has to be capable of safe, secure stops as well. That’s why the ZR1 offers Brembo® Carbon Ceramic Brake rotors that weigh almost 50% less than equivalent cast-iron units. Besides reducing overall mass, they’re capable of operating at 1,000° Celsius (as hot as molten lava) without warping. The system employs 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers engaging vented, cross-drilled rotors. The result is tremendous stopping power.

Magnetic Selective Ride Control is standard on the 2013 Corvette ZR1. This system stiffens suspension capability for twisty roads while providing a more accommodating ride for city driving and freeways.
The way MSRC works is both elegantly simple and somewhat of an auto engineering marvel. Each damper piston contains an electromagnetic coil. When the coil applies an electrical current  — variably controlled by a microprocessor — ferrous particles in the shock fluid instantly bond, making the fluid more flow resistant, which stiffens the shock’s damping. When the electromagnetic field is reduced, the fluid flows more freely, allowing easier suspension movement. There are two cockpit settings for MSRC, Tour and Sport, allowing you to choose the mode that best suits conditions and driving style.

Given the wide range of available performance options, you can construct the perfect ZR1 to complement your driving style. The available PDE Performance Package includes RUV Satin Black
Cup style wheels (with a weight reduction of 5 pounds compared to the standard ZR1 wheels), Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Tires, full-width racing style spoiler and MH3 close ratio transmission. The collective impact of these enhancements translates to impressive performance numbers such as 1.13g skid pad, 8% more grip, three seconds saved per lap at Virginia International Raceway and 103-foot stopping distance at 60 mph. “Impressive” isn’t a strong enough word. How about, “Incredible!”

ZR1 Technology

Corvette’s technology options such as Magnetic Selective Ride Control and Brembo Carbon Ceramic Brakes keep you connected to the road, while other modern technology features available in the ZR1 keep you connected to your life. The Technology Package included on 3ZR incorporates many of the most popular infotainment features such as navigation radio, Head-Up Display, Bose premium audio, Sirius/XM Satellite radio services for one year, Bluetooth wireless technology for select phones and a USB port.

Navigation System

The standard Head-Up Display on the Corvette ZR1 greatly enhances safety. The display projects onto  the front windshield and appears as if hovering above the front bumper, allowing the driver to take in pertinent information while keeping both eyes on the road. Head-Up Display includes two modes…track and street…which display speed, direction, g-force, and even turn-by-turn directions through the navigation system.

Performance Traction Management (PTM) fully integrates the Magnetic Selective Ride Control, Traction Control and Active Handling systems of the 2013 Corvette ZR1, enhancing the vehicle’s race track performance and consistency. PTM controls acceleration based on conditions and the driver’s selection, offering five different modes to maximize performance.

For 2013, Corvette offers a new nine-speaker Bose premium audio system which includes tweeters located in the instrument panel and improved Bose Nd next-generation bass performance. Precisely tuned to the cabin’s acoustics, this new Bose system is a truly premium audio experience.

ZR1 Safety Features

When it comes to safety, Corvette engineers practice prevention first, incorporating features like Active Handling, run-flat tires and four-wheel antilock brakes. But in the event of a collision, Corvette is engineered for safety before, during, and after…all to help keep you protected.

BEFORE: Active Handling and four-wheel antilock brakes help you stay on the road and in control to help avoid accidents in the first place, while standard high-intensity discharge xenon headlamps shed 900 lumens of light onto the road for excellent visibility. And if there’s ever a loss of tire pressure, the run-flat tires enable safe function for some distance at a moderate speed until the tire can be repaired.

DURING: In the event of a collision, Corvette is designed to help keep you and your passengers protected with frontal and side-impact air bags that deploy in the blink of an eye.

AFTER: OnStar with Directions & Connections and Automatic Crash Response uses built-in sensors that can automatically alert an Advisor, who is immediately connected into your vehicle and can request emergency help be sent to your exact GPS location — even if you’re unable to respond. This service is standard for the first six months of ZR1 ownership.
